Update from The Han province.

Apparently, this latest disruption in the Han province, all resulted from a fight that exposed all of the tensions in that area.

Reports have it that there is a long standing issue with ethnic tension in the Han province, with the minorities easily infuriated.

Just for the record, there are all 55 minorities in China and it's about 46 mirorities living in the Han province, with the Uighurs being one of them. There are almost 80 dialects in China and they all speak their own dialect in their particular provinces, but they will speak Mandarin when speaking to others.

What a conincidence that the Uighurs the US government let go to Bermuda, are from the same place that is having the tensions in the Han province in China.

Youri,

I applaud your willingness to attain information from a source within China as an attempt to gain a more well-rounded perspective. Quite often situations are percieved locally to be different from the way that their stories are reported in the news.

Looking at some of the recent news stories that touch on race relations within the U.S. as well as the seemingly increased coverage of riots and protests worldwide over the last year or so it almost seems to me as if a very large set of tentacles is working very hard to disrupt things all over. Yes, I am trying not to be too cynical or conspiratorial yet again but the old ethnic tensions storyline is one that has been used time and time again. Please bear in mind that after having seen the effects of the western mainstream media's portrayals of situations that I have personally lived through, such as what happened in Rhodesia, I simply can't help but be a skeptic.

If you were trying to capture the facts of the story by getting information from a source closer to it then I think it is also important to appreciate that we all seem to create our own realities of situations. We can't help it simply because of our own loyalties, experiences and bias.

Even though I admit that I don't know much about Asia, I still can't help but wonder what the magnitude of activity by outside interests in stirring up things in Taiwan lately has been. Also, recently in another part of the world it was interesting that right off the bat the potential for involvement by the CIA in the Iranian election situation was questioned by the media. While an interesting proposal, I should point out that I don't necessarily think that this had to be the case. It is, however, in my opinion worth noting that many other nations, some with a history dating back to before the founding of the U.S., also facilitate extensive covert operations.

Sometimes news just happens and sometimes it is made to order. How can we know which is which?

On another note, while not particularly surprising, the results from my U.S. dollar index poll have been posted at http://houseofexile.blogspot.com - Thanks again for taking the time to vote and thanks very much for always providing thought provoking reading material on your blog. Good stuff indeed.

Hi X,

It is a strange occurence, indeed. Other reports have that at least over 140 people have been killed and over 800 people wounded.

Apparently, this is not the first time that ethnic minorities, have clashed with the Han majority in the region. But, this is one of the first times where so many people have been killed and wounded in the area.

It is sad and it's easy to pin it on Chinese authorities, for those who do not get the inside scoop. But, it is all ethnic-- as simple as it is.

The devil works in mysterious ways, X.

Thank you once again and I will check your website later on today...

Best,

Youri
